About me

Mgr. Zdenka Vopěnková
registered mediator and attorney

I specialize in resolving commercial and civil disputes, including the most legally complex cases.

I have over 10 years of experience in my own legal practice, focusing on litigation. This background gives me a deep understanding of the legal nature of conflicts, allowing me to help businesses and individuals find practical and legally sustainable solutions.

I graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University and began working in the legal profession immediately after my studies. Over the years, however, I increasingly felt frustrated and reluctant to participate in a system that pushes clients toward escalating disputes rather than helping them achieve a quick and fair resolution. This led me to mediation in 2021. In January 2023, I became a registered mediator, and since then, mediation has been my primary focus.

I am the co-founder and chairwoman of the Union of Registered Mediators. I also serve as a mediator and facilitator for the Prague 7 Municipal District, where I help resolve disputes related to rental housing and neighbor relations. Additionally, I train future mediators and other professionals interested in the field of mediation. I occasionally lecture on mediation and conflict resolution in businesses, schools, and public institutions.

Why work with me

1) Experience

I have handled dozens of mediation cases, ranging from neighbour disputes to conflicts involving multinational corporations. I mediate disputes across the Czech Republic as well as cases with international participants. I conduct mediation both in Czech and English.

2) Experience in law practice

With many years of experience running my own law practice, I understand how things work in court and what courts focus on when resolving disputes. I am able to ask the right questions that help both parties realistically assess their situation and make an informed decision about the outcome of the agreement. Even if you are not legally represented, I will guide you through the litigation process to a peaceful resolution and assist you in drafting the mediation agreement. You can also be confident that the mediation agreement I draft will be legally correct, valid, and, if you wish, enforceable – meaning the court will approve it as a settlement.

3) Expertise

I have in-depth knowledge of the areas I focus on in mediation. Among other things, I am a co-author of a commentary on the new Civil Code (on provisions regarding compensation for damage) and have spent several years training professional builders on the topic of construction contracts.

4) Human approach

Through all of this, I am very aware of how challenging it can be to negotiate with the other party. I understand the concerns and often complex emotions of my clients, and I am empathetic toward them, no matter what they may be. While searching for solutions, I am as helpful and patient as possible. At the same time, I keep the mediation process firmly in hand and ensure that the communication remains constructive and progresses toward a resolution.
